Horses, with their profound spirituality, were never truly viewed as mere vehicles by the ancients, even after domestication. Instead, they were used as metaphors for people, symbolizing loyalty, righteousness, and gentlemanly virtues.
In people's hearts, a good horse is always an ideal version of themselves: sincere, free-spirited, and eternally young.
Horses also represent the passage of time. Zhuangzi's saying, "Life between heaven and earth is like a white horse flashing past a crack," speaks of a miniature white horse symbolizing life, always appearing only briefly, leaping and bounding through the gaps of time.
