Don’t underestimate the rubbing creation of the small "Fu" character. Although the manual steps seem simple, they can exercise our refined hands-on ability through pigment printing and dyeing, and embed blessings into our hearts.

Workshop Time

This workshop will takes 2 hours, registration is available, booking in advance is request. For example, classes begin at 10am and finish at 12noon. We advise students to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes for the workshop.

Equipment

The course fee includes all the required equipment and instructor fees. There is no need to bring anything with you as all equipment is provided. You may want to bring a notepad and pen if you’d like to make notes.

From- theme setting to planning and execution,, so you don't need to prepare any tools. If you want to record your feelings, bring a notebook and pen.

No Requirement

Workshop means experience the improvisational art and does not require any foundation. Therefore, you only need to show up to enjoy the freedom of creation and have the opportunity to create a relaxing corner in your soul.

What makes us most gratified is that everyone has a different atmosphere after every team activity. It's the feeling that we borrow small objects symbolizing life from nature and connect them to form a mountain scene.

The Year of the Snake marks the golden years

The so-called "printmaking" is to soak a piece of tough thin paper in advance, then put it on the stone tablet, tap it lightly with a brush to make the paper fit into the characters, and after the paper is dry, dip the brush in ink, gently and evenly pat it to make the ink evenly coated on the paper, and then peel off the paper.

This way, a rubbing with black background and white characters is copied. This method of reproducing text is called "rubbing" - the process of printing stone or wood carvings with paper and ink for preservation and dissemination.

Printmaking is an ancient printing technique invented during the reign of Emperor Ling of the Eastern Han Dynasty for the publication of the Xiping Stone Classics.

A word is worth a thousand gold

The word "福 (FU)" also has a lot of meaning.

"Fu" originated from the pictograph of "two hands holding wine to offer sacrifice to the sky" in the oracle bone script. After continuous evolution, it finally formed the character "Fu" used today. Breaking down the structure, the left radical "礻" means prayer, and the right radical "畐" can be divided into "一", "口", and "田", which means that people hope for blessings from God, to get land, to have enough food and clothing, and to live a happy life. Therefore, one word contains the meanings of "pray," "respect," and "wish."

The current interpretation of the word "Fu" is "happiness," "blessing," and "good luck." Posting the word "Fu" during the Spring Festival expresses people's yearning for a happy life and their wishes for a better future.

Our Founder and Creative Director, Vanessa Lee, is a Hong Kong native with an insatiable thirst for art and nature. During the workshop, Vanessa will teach everyone how to present the feeling of nature in the creative process and heal themselves through painting.
