In Chinese culture, lanterns symbolize light, joy, reunion, and blessings. During festive occasions such as the Lunar New Year, the Lantern Festival, or the Mid-Autumn Festival, lighting lanterns not only illuminates the evening sky but also carries heartfelt wishes of peace and prosperity for loved ones.
In this session, we reframe this cherished traditional imagery into an intimate, everyday aesthetic.
In fact, "lanterns", also known as "lanterns", are an ancient traditional Chinese handicraft. Originated in the Western Han Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago, before the 15th day of the eighth lunar month every year, people hang red lanterns to symbolize reunion and create a festive atmosphere.
Beginning with an introduction to the natural texture of rattan and basic weaving skills, you will progressively weave an exquisite mini rattan lantern ornament. In the process of intertwining, securing, and shaping the rattan strands, experience the focus and tranquil grounding brought by traditional craftsmanship.
Whether displayed at home, gifted to someone special, or shared as a culturally meaningful festive gesture, this handcrafted rattan lantern serves as a beautiful vessel of connection, heartfelt wishes, and lasting memories.
Our Founder and Creative Director, Vanessa Lee, is a Hong Kong native with an insatiable thirst for art and nature. During the workshop, Vanessa will teach everyone how to present the feeling of nature in the creative process and heal themselves through painting.
Although each workshop presents something new, it emphasizes healing our psychical self: creating art that perfectly matches our dreams rather than what others see as achievement.
At Wonderland, our passion for art starts with nature – like when we arrive at the art place to hunt out the best stems and foliage we can find. Working with nature and soul has always been important to us and we’ve been doing the creation wherever possible for over “a decade”.
We are, and always have been, committed to finding ethical, sustainable solutions to the challenges within our industry.
In addition to personal experience workshops, we offer group classes (for groups of more than 6 people) and customized activities for companies and teams.
A comfortable environment with an art space, whether one person or a group of people, let the paintbrush guide you and enjoy the dialogue with your soul.
This year, Wonderland invites you to transform this spirit of reunion into a tangible creation that retains its warmth. In addition to continuing our beloved classic series, we are thrilled to introduce three brand-new experiences: Leather Crafting, Cloisonné Enamel Jewelry Boxes, and Healing Sand Art. These are the perfect choices for teams looking to curate a heartwarming Mid-Autumn gathering.
